this is an excerpt from a letter from the Dionne quintuplets (Born in 1934 in canada and taken by the canadian government to live in "quintland" for 9 years on display for the public) to the McCaughey Septuplets in 1997:
"WE HOPE YOUR CHILDREN RECEIVE MORE RESPECT THAN WE DID. THEIR FATE SHOULD BE NO DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF OTHER CHILDREN. MULTIPLE BIRTHS SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH ENTERTAINMENT, NOR SHOULD THEY BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SELL PRODUCTS. OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN RUINED BY THE EXPLOITATION WE SUFFERED."
So yuck it up folks, watch Jon and Kate + 8 and 18 and counting, and any of the numerous other fertility porn shows on TV, it doesn't hurt the kids or anything....
What is the difference in the Dionne kids being in an amusement park for your enjoyment and all the broods of multiples being broadcast on your TV every week, and then those shows living on FOREVER on the web, DVD's and reruns?
The Dionne girls didn't have a fantastic life after their "show" run ended. Two girls died young and the remaining 3 lived together (2 were divorced) and the 1998 NYT described them as "broke and bitter."
At least in the '00 era, all our mulitples who are on TV now will have access to years and years of therapy.
Way to go with fucking up America's youth TLC.

i gotta get out of the house.
i am feeling antsy, i would like some dairy queen, i dont have money to spend on dairy queen, i have no movies to watch and the only thing on TV is sandra bullock saturday night, ive already watched the lake house and miss congeniality II...i cant handle watching two weeks notice again, i really cant.
