job day

so I had an interview this afternoon with a law firm remarkably similar to my last job (except about 50x smaller) I really like the (one) attorney who interviewed me (she owns the firm) and liked the work duties etc....it was wierd that i had an hour interview and then they put me on the phones to see how I did....that was kind of odd....turns out a woman I worked with at M&I about 8 yrs ago works there too...

its salary + comission and she gives great perks....so I guess we shall see what we shall see, I think I would like to work there, its right on Barker behind Perkins...great location and she has young kids about my kids age and everyone there has kids (terrific!) its only one night a week late (7-7:30) that doesnt bother me and on saturday every 6 weeks for 3 hours (wooo kill me!)

anyways, thanks for the PHC links shannon and jen!

MARY HARTMAN MARY HARTMAN

SO I HAD MY 1ST INTERVIEW THING OF THE DAY TODAY AT A PROFESSIONAL AGENCY...I HAD TO DO SOME TESTING. I NEVER REALIZED I KNEW AS MUCH ABOUT EXCEL AND WORD AS I APPARANTLY DO. I REALLY LIKE THE CONTACT PERSON AT THIS FIRM AND I GUESS SHE WAS ALREADY TRYING TO PLACE ME ON THURSDAY AFTER I LEFT, ODD. I FIND AFTER MY WEEKEND BITCHING ABOUT MY OLD JOB WITH NATE AND CARRIE AND MANY CALLS ETC...FROM OLD COWORKERS I AM VERY RELIEVED(?) TO NOT BE THERE. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I HAD IT MADE (MOSTLY) WITH BEING LEFT ALONE AT WORK AND KNOWING MY JOB, BUT I GUESS TO SUM UP WORKING THERE, YOU COME TO WORK EVERYDAY WITH THE FEAR THAT THEY COULD FIRE YOU AT ANY TIME FOR ANYTHING, AND HONESTLY THE SINKING PIT OF YOUR STOMACH BIG BROTHER FEAR WAS REALLY KILLING MY SPIRIT OR SOUL OR KARMIC BALANCE (WHATEVER.)

I FIND I AM HAPPIER WHEN I GET UP IN THE MORNING. I HAVE THINGS I WANT TO DO, MY HOUSE IS CLEANER, MY LIFE FEELS MORE IN ORDER AND CONTROL AND I DUNNO, I JUST FEEL MORE POSITIVE ABOUT EVERYTHING. I GUESS I DIDNT REALIZE HOW MUCH THAT PLACE WAS BRINGING ME DOWN TILL I LEFT.

MY INTERVIEW THIS AFTERNOON IS RIGHT ON BARKER RD BEHIND PERKINS. MY MOM THINKS NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO/OFFER FOR $ THATS THE PLACE FOR ME (SINCE ITS LIKE 5 MIN FROM THE HOUSE) I TEND TO AGREE....

ON THE ONE HAND, I KIND OF WANT TO NOT WORK FOR AWHILE (MONTH OR TWO) ON THE OTHER HAND IM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO PANIC ABOUT SPENDING MONEY WHEN NO (OR LESS) MONEY IS COMING IN...

THANKS FOR EVERYONE WHO CALLED OR TEXT'D OR EMAILED WITH WELL WISHES..AND KEEP THOSE "I FOUND THIS JOB YOU'D BE PERFECT FOR" LINKS COMING MY WAY (THANKS JEN!)

rehab is for quitters

so today is Thursday which means it is my late night again...Ive been
at work since 7am and Ill be here till 5pm. I hate working these 10
hour days. By about now (2:30) im shot...eating chocolate to stay
awake, reorganizing my desk, checking my appt. book for stuff to do,
making lists of crap i have to do at home (then discarding them as
useless as I will not do the stuff on there anyways) and wondering
(again) why i didnt just sleep an extra hour this morning. My boss and
I had a meeting this morning behind closed doors...he basically
offered to take the majority of my workload away from me and have me
write the process manual for the department and focus on internal
auditing of files....since he knows this is what i like to do anyways,
he was dangling a big carrot in front of me....its not like i had a
choice in the matter, but its nice to know my boss likes me enough to
try and make my work day more palatable.

today was food day at work. im too full to move, how can i type after
eating sweedish meatballs and cake? i ask you....

i bought chocolate gum today. its like chewing chocolate frosting. mmmm frosting

i may have to spend my afternoon doing the work "pretend" so i can
sleep (essentially i toss my ipod ear phones on, put my hands on the
keyboard, slink down low in my chair and nap)

no feelings

you know, i sometimes think i would have more free flowing information
if i worked for the military than if i worked here...it is about 2:30
and my boss still hasnt sent the email out letting us know our
coworker is "sick" (read: too drunk or hungover to come to work). why
not just email everyone, in fact, why not just have that email set up
as a daily occurance since she is always sick?

I guess that lately I have been dealing with a lot of addicts in my
life. I think you have two kinds of addicts, one the ones that can't
stop what they are doing and try to get help, and try again, and try
again...and the ones that don't think they have a problem, until they
get in a drunk driving accident and kill someone. I had a long
discussion today about the debate over is alcoholism and disease or
not. Me, Im firmly in the NOT. Drinking is a choice you make, you
may not choose to become an addict but you did choose to start in the
first place, you don't choose cancer (Thats a disease)-although if you
choose to smoke 4 packs a day and get lung cancer, you cant really be
shocked can you?

Im divided because someone I really care about is trying to work through their addictions (and 10000 kudos for that) and someone I dont really like at all is totally denying theirs.

i shouldnt have to state the obvious

shouldnt have to state the obvious.

you know lately there has been a rash of obvious stating going on around here. like "if you take the shred bin key, you should put the shred bin key back where you got it...instead of throwing it out in the parking lot." (really) "if you dont work here anymore, we stop paying you." (unless you are milton in office space) if you get yourself fired from your job, and don't pay your Cobra, you don't have health insurance when you break your ankle falling down the stairs when you are drunk, which is why we fired you in the first place, since you didnt show up to work for a week cause you were on a bender" (really)

NO TATS, NO PIERCINGS, NO GRUNGE PIT EDDIE HAIR..

o today I am watching a free preview of "Flipping Out" which I think is on Bravo...Basically you have a guy with OCD that buys properties in California, fixes them up and flips the house. This guy redefines bat shit crazy. His assistants hate him, he has a maid for his pets, something like 6 psychics, pet whisperers, a primal scream therapist, does wacky all employee house blessings, and he's like 4 million in debt or god knows what...but has like 18 million in realestate he is trying to flip. They are totally nice houses, you know if you want 2000 sq feet for 2.8 million. Gotta love that California shit.

there is this wierd vibe around here that a certain supervisor is going out of their way to try (we think) and get someone fired around here. now according to this person, the fact that their boss is overseeing every minute of every hour of their day (they feel) is harassment, even though that boss has caught them I dunno how many times, fucking around or not doing what they should be doing or taking 2 hours to do a 20 minute job etc...now I agree having your boss looking over your shoulder all day every day is annoying as hell, but your boss and the company pretty much own you so if they want to sit and watch you work i guess they can and I dont think you can claim its harassment for them to expect you to do your job and to make sure you do your job. This person is also complaining that the boss doesnt do this for everyone else he oversees, and it was very hard for me to bite my tongue and say "well maybe that's because those people havent given him a reason to do that." i dunno, somedays you just wish they would fire the deadweight right away.

The powers that be are also on a tatoo + piercing kick. They are now forcing people to cover any visable tats with bandaids, gauze and tape, or clothes so (for example) my coworker who has cherries on her boob (well the top anyways) and usually wears scoop neck shirts, now has to cover her tat with a giant plastic bandaid (which only covers like 2/3 of her tat so its even more noticable that she has this tat) and a huge gauze and tape thing on her calf (to cover up her leg tat) so it looks like she is in the burn ward or something i dunno...and its even more noticable and obvious that something is there when you have this big ass bandaid in wierd ass places. Someone asked me what my tat was (i have none) since i have a big ass bandaid on my arm (burned on oven) so i said "um I have no tatoos?" they said "whats the bandaid for?" I proceeded to show them my oven burn, peely nasty festeringness and all...that pretty much caused an "oh, right, sorry." now anyone with a bandaid must be hiding a tatoo? shannon, I think jason would bust the bandaid bank if he had to work here and cover up with bandaids! Its just so lame that you'd make someone bandaid up...I would think it would be less obvious if you had them go home and change clothes, put on pants a higher necked/long sleve shirt or something...then another coworker walked by and her boob tat is peaking out blue as day...beyond stupid.

hooray my HP VII audiobook is back at the library, I can pick it up today, too fun!

do you have a case of the monday's?

So Im recovering from a long weekend with nothing much that went on. The brewers dropped 3, do they are only a 1/2 game up on the Cubs who can not lose apparantly (looks like if things keep up we won't even make the playoffs)...We didnt really do anything this weekend, went to Madison on Saturday for the farmers market (got zucchinis for my mom to make zucchini bread), ate at Noodles and Co on state street and was appalled at the beautification of state street, all the quirky, cool shops they used to have have been replaced by The Gap and huge art museums and stuff...bah.

yesterday we went to westwood, my mom took everyone swimming, dale and i worked out..then the kids didnt want to sleep last night (i think owen went out at 9:30? or later) so this morning was a fun time getting everyone up...owen was making sock puppets (out of his socks) and having a puppet show...then when i busted him again it was having his white and pink cow beating up buzz lightyear....i think he has a future in the theatre.

This week I have nothing planned except for a brewers game this sunday..

Im watching Flight of the Conchords on my ipod this week...(free from itunes) and I can't decide if its funny or not, I mean I like the music videos part of the show the music is catchy and all, but Im not really sold on the non singing part...i dunno, its a wierd show (man)...

I am also watching Welcome to The Parker. which is about this swank hotel in Palm Springs/Beverly hills (whatever) Ive never heard of the place but damn do they have issues, I may have to watch this show weekly, its high art, dayum!

My shoe just broke, there goes my 20.00 kohls sandals...they lasted like 3 months....arrrrrg, im having a day.

please dont get me started

Please dont let me get started on the crap my fellow employees are pulling at work, I will pop a blood vessel in my brain. I guess this whole issue of lack of work ethic is something I just dont understand. Maybe it comes from having a strong self employed/union background on my grandparents side and a strong work ethic home life (my dad as a teacher and administrator worked often 12 hr days, plus summers plus weekends and even though is retired still works a stupid amount of hours in the district + my mom doesnt know how to NOT work.) that I just don't get how people live their lives by showing up for work "when they feel like it." I thought Frank and Allison were bad when I worked at GE (where you got 20 sick days startin in Jan and they would be out of days by like early March) but DAMN people around, those two yahoos from BITD have got nothin on my coworkers.... Its enough going around here to make me into a teeotaler (which I pretty much am anyway since like when would i get time to drink?).

Today at work watched Maverick (funny, before Mel Gibson was all crazy-ed up), Ghost Rider (so so, liked Hellboy better) and started watching Big Love (men and you thought you had problems with one wife? you want to get all exponentially harassed with 3? damn!) which is very intriguing. I also started converting Scrubs which I had never previously watched, but now Dale seems to be hooked so I guess I should start at the beginning....the shows I've seen on TV are beyond funny..once again, why wasnt i watching this show before?

Today is rainy and humid, the weather online catagorizes it as 77 and "Hazy." I hope that Owen was able to get outside at Erins (he is at Erin's today, playing with baby Lucy who he adores) at first I was a bit wierded out at having him watched in someone elses house, but since we know Erin and since she is certified to work at the daycare I am pretty sure she can handle one infant and one toddler with attitude (who bit and hit his teacher 4 times in 2 hours yesterday).

Tonight, fun fun, we get to clean the garage

drunky mc drunk

Is everyone I know some sort of deranged alcoholic?

So this week at work we have someone who so obviously has a drinking
issue (ie, cant ever come to work because they Andrew WK it so much)
someone else who got likkered up and beat up on the baby momma (for
like the 982623th time) and someone else who got their 3rd Drunk
Driving ticket (and they have only been 21 for a little over 8
months). The 1st person really pisses me off because they know they
have a problem but have said flat out "I won't do anything or admit it
to anyone because I dont want to go to rehab and my mom will cut me
off if I do that." the 2nd person got kicked out of their own house
(and had to leave the babymomma and baby) and has like their um-teenth
court date next month, and the 3rd person is such an idiot anyway that
I'm surprised the cops can tell the difference when he drives sober as
he is a moron no matter what. I guess I'm more tolerant outside of
work (to people I know and like) having addiction issues. When its'
people I work with and the company doesnt seem to want to do anything
or say anything (They have history of being OK with people coming to
work drunk/hungover/reeking of the Boone's Farm) and either fire these
people for their repeated absences

happy friday

so today I watched "The Illusionist" at work. This has got to be one of my top 10 movies of the year. I loved it. Now I liked the "other" magician movie "The Prestige" as well, but this one really kicked ass....I actually got a bit of respect for Jessica Biel (which I really didnt have before as I always just saw her as some blonde bint who appeared in a bunch of lad mags). I had forgotten all about how great an actor Edward Norton is, it was also cemented last night when the answer on one of the world series of pop culture was "Primal Fear," which (I think) was Edward Norton's first acting role & a excellent surprise ending. It also reminded me I need to rent American History X.....Last night I watched an oldie but a goodie "Young Sherlock Holmes." I forgot how cool I thought this movie was when I was like 12 years old (or so). I also realized that the actor who plays the young Holmes was in another one of my favorite Films, "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels," he plays a stoner. I guess this is the week for British boarding school movies, first Harry Potter, and now this...Speaking of HP, Dale appears to be around page 350ish in the latest HP. Last night I was on mugglenet and they have a very excellent list of "loose ends" that they have compiled that need to be tied up/answered in Book 7. So Dale is looking over them with me and he is making me super pissed by saying "oh yes, you find this one out right away" or "oh yeah, R.A.B. is XXXXX XXXXX" (you ass you have ruined it for me ahhhhhhhhhh!) Now I have no idea if Dale is just being an ass and lying about "oh yes this gets answered right away" or "yeah it was cool how he/she did that." or "yes, there is nudity" (in response to my joking question "are there naked boobies in it yet?") or if he is being serious. He actually had one question for me which he really wanted to ask about something in Book 6 but wasnt sure if it would spoil it for me...I can assure you his question actually didnt spoil anything for me since I had already pretty much 99% surmised that the issue in question was what it actually turned out to be, so he didnt really spoil much....

In other random things:

My cousin Matt (not to be confused with my brother matt) is getting married in October @ the Grand Geneva resort and he called and asked if the girls would like to be flower girls in the wedding. Sure, they'd love it! Now I have done two things on this so far (he called 10 -15 min ago) I have a: not told my mom (who will, of course, be all mad/upset/disapointed because I am sure she will say its "terribly impractical" to have kids that young (they will be 4) in a wedding and she will keep up her mad-ness until the day of the wedding when, seeing how cute they are in bridesmaids dresses she will shut up see evidence from the fur muff and cape from my wedding circa 2002) and b: let my mother in law know its an owen day only....also have to now start process of flower girl dresses etc...this is going to cost me loads and i do not care....weddings are fun and as i said to my MIL, I always was hurt when i was little that my uncle mike and uncle myron didnt have me in their weddings...its part of the reason why i asked my cousin marina to stand up in mine, what girl doesnt want to be a flower girl? seriously.

renee were you and Olivia at westwood yesterday around 5:45? I thought I saw you as I was leaving? we should so get the girls and oliva together at westwood for a playdate in the pool eh?

sad day at work

sort of a sad day here at work. 'MoTom wasnt here when I came in this morning (very odd) I was going to call him with a usual "where the F are you?" but got sidetracked and didnt call...about 7:30 Kurt comes in, I ask "where is 'MoTom?" Kurt proceeds to tell me his mom died VERY unexpectedly Saturday Morning/Friday night and he didnt find out about it till Saturday night (he was at a wedding in Manitowoc 2 hrs away) and rushed home from it (taking an hour to get back home) to see his mom being taken away (very sad). It was very unexpected as she was in great health and very spry for her age (70, I think.). So he is here but just to review his Mom's will with an attorney here. I believe I will go to her service on Wed because I like 'MoTom.

I also take exception to the phrase "passed away unexpectedly." Ok, when do you expect people to die? I understand if you have a long illness or something I guess your death is expected in some respects, but at the end of the day, unless you are planning on murdering someone and tell everyone in the world your plans, isnt everyones death unexpected? I dunno. Maybe its right up there with people saying "she passed last night." Passed? passed what, a hamburger, gas, the gas station...say "passed away" if you must... ( i take no credit for that part of the rant, someone else brought that up 1st>)

and I feel a bit more republican today than I am comfortable with, it has been proposed that in WI we get universal health care by the working people (me) paying part of the cost for the non working people (everyone else). I dont really want to pay for people like my coworker, lets call her Kringle. She was rec. in the hospital in ICU for something like 3 weeks with pnumonia, her lungs collapsed, she had to be cracked open and her lungs flushed out of goop, big deal....wasnt here at work for something like 2 months....now you would think that a month or so of not being able to smoke would inspire you to FUCKING QUIT SMOKING SINCE YOU HAVE A HEAD START AT IT? no. shes outside puffing away at her 2 pk a day habit. Its people like this who I dont want to pay for health coverage because you obviously arent smart enough to take care of yourself by quitting while you are a head.

better late than never!

another Friday is here, hazah. We have no plans for this weekend that I can think of. There is a ton of stuff we could do, but I haven't narrowed down to what we plan on doing to keep the kids busy quite yet. I know we have to return stuff to the library and that's it. I think its supposed to be pretty hot this weekend, that leaves out the zoo....plus summerfest (aka, drinky drinky music time) is going on downtown so that cuts out the museums down there....I would consider going to Madison for farmers market, but I always seem to pick the weekend with no fresh produce (aka, art faire on the square) which upsets me when I plan for fresh zucchini and I get modern art, generally you cant eat the art.

Bob had suggested trying Minooka park. He said the beach is very clean and they sweep/rake it every day and I guess its $5.00 a carload to use the beach. He said Keira had a great time at the beach and the water is very shallow for a good ways out...I think the kids would have fun but I'm a bit nervous 3 kids and 2 parents plus a big beach and water may equal disaster...

There is also a wooden railway somewheres out in east troy that takes people on a steam train for like a 45 min scenic ride ending at elegant farmer (yum pies) which I think is a def. maybe...the kids love the trains....

I am also sure there is some random church festival around the area which has sweet corn (which IMHO is a food from the gods).

In news of the hurt back depending on which way I sit/stand/lay it doesn't hurt at all, move an inch and BAM pain. The pills from the doctor which I didn't think were doing anything actually seem to work as I toughed it out last night and didn't take one before bed (large mistake). I think the hot tub after work did help a bit (hooray for Westwood).

'moTom & CG & I are talking about a weekend road trip down to IL to go to IKEA. As much as I love the look of IKEA I know the furn. is crappy (well cheep in an expensive way) but it looks purdy. I am thinking of getting some accessories for the new bedroom downstairs. My one starting point for the great move is to grab paint swatches from Home Depot, tape them to the wall and contemplate starting to paint. The reality of moving 4 bookshelves worth of books upstairs and the desks and the rest of the stuff is stopping the great move. My parents are also giving us their old (meaning, no one has walked on it, or spilled on it and after 15 years looks brand new) piano room carpet (a pretty light blue and plushy) to recarpet the horrible bedroom (the carpet is so tamped down that you cant even vac. it....dirt just sort of pushes itself around) so I'm waiting till we have that carpet before moving the stuff...(its a perfectly plausible reason to not spend an entire Saturday moving stuff around).

the great purge of useless crap around my house stalled this week, I did not get my large garbage bag of stuff tossed out. I did fill up 3 paper bags of old clothes that are ripped, don't fit pit stained (dales) and socks we don't wear. That all goes to my moms to decide if its good for rags or to the salvation army. So I think that could qualify as me decluttering for the week. Dale has a bit more space in his closet and I have no appreciable difference in mine (its hard to get rid of summer clothes you don't wear when you really have a lack of summer clothes to wear). I think the next room to tackle is the living room (aka the room we never use) which really has no "stuff" but seems to accumulate the junk we don't want to put away. I also plan on weeding through the 3 shelves of Rubbermaid, Tupperware, and gladwear containers that we have clogging up the pantry. Half of them don't have lids, half the lids don't have containers and I wonder daily why I have so many containers I don't use. They are destined for the recycle bin. The last project is the dungeon of the under the stairs storage. There is so much crap (mostly xmas crap) that in order to get to the crap you have to pull all the crap in front of the crap out to find the crap you were looking for in the first place (its horrible and its my fault) I think the lost city of Atlantis is somewhere under the stairs. The reason its lost is that the xmas tree, high chair, random boxes of crap and my camping backpack are blocking the view of the lost city. Oh, does anyone NEED a high chair? It is without a doubt, next to the wipes warmer, the most useless baby gift we ever got. I hated the high chair, rarely used the high chair, and it takes up way way too much space in my tiny kitchen. High chairs are smegma.

So I just finished a one-off book by OOMFA Kelley Anderson called Exit Strategy. She usually writes this series called Women of the Otherworld which is a fantasy/horror/mystery series where vampires, witches (not the pointy hat kind), were's etc.. exist...this one is a straight thriller about a hit woman who owns a hunting lodge in Canada...It was really fantastic and I'm hoping that she writes some more books with this character. I find I have been reading quite a few Canadian authors lately...Its odd, I'm starting to recognize things in Canada based on the stuff I have been reading..very strange.

my back hurts

Happy 4th....I am in an interesting amount of pain....my cough has decided to manifest its way to the bottom veribrae on my spine. Now when I cough my lower back hurts. Normally I'd just accept this as normal since I always seem to cough myself into abandon when I get sick..The not normal part is that the last time I had a blood clot (the one that almost killed the girl) the pain pretty much started where it hurts now.....and my PT score after my blood work last week was a little wacky so I'm trying not to be paranoid and think "crap, now I have another clot being thrown!" but then again the problem the last time is I didnt take my "little backache" seriously and ended up in the ICU for a week. Nick assured me I am just getting old. Thanks Nick. Walking is a new experience in pain...of course this has to happen before a holiday. crud.

So you know you are an alcoholic if you plan your work day and your vacation time around the drunk you need to get on the day before. Its very sad that someone I work with is a functioning alcoholic, instead of realizing that "hey i am going to go out and have a good time on X night, maybe have a few drinks etc...and come in to work tomorrow" they pretty much operate under a "i am going to get wasted, not come in to work/take a vacation day on a Tuesday because I have to get wasted to celebrate Canada Day (or whatever)" This person knows she has a problem, but won't admit to the problem b/c then she would actually have to get help. Sad. I guess friends hers outside of work tried to do an intervention but it was a disaster. Its also sad that the work environment she is in pretty much supports her alcoholism....I don't buy the alcoholism is a disease B/S that gets fed to me. Cancer is a disease, AIDS is a disease..drinking is your choice and drinking to excess even when you "cant" stop, also your choice that was predicated by the choices to made to start drinking like a fish anyways.... I don't think AA is the only answer (thats part of what she is afraid of I guess), but at least its a start and is better than leaving your kid home alone so you can get blasted on a tuesday night, drinking yourself into illness, drinking while you are going through Chemo and Radiation...and even better, going to your oncologists office drunk to ask can you wait a week for your radiation to start so you can "drink and party over the 4th." Thats fucking weak and sad......especially when your oncologist says "man you must have been drinking last night because I can smell it on your skin." um no, that would be, i just woke up because i was so drunk and hungover i had to have a drink to be able to drive here to see you, you are smelling the beer I have in my system now. stupid and lame....slowing getting close to being a bus person.

irritated into the mean reds...

today i found i was infiately more irritated with fellow employees that perhaps i had a right to be.

maybe its because I'm sick, maybe its because its extra hot (87 at 10:30 am) i dunno...

I had a situation where someone (we shall refer to him as T) decided to do my job for me without letting me know, or asking my imput, just decided to make an arbitrary decision (which was wrong) and go on their merry way.

2 months later my client calls sort of upset....umm why did you do this? me? Ive never even seen this file before? oh, well you guys did XXXXX and therefore now you need to call person X, explain, get XXXX back and then send the XXXXX. okay?

me after hanging up email boss and T, yes since you decided to do what you did, you fucking fix it, not my f up.

You know most people dont even want to do their own jobs, but around here it KILLS me how many people want to do mine for me when they cant even get their job done. My job exists to make peoples lives easier around the firm, I guess everyone wants to make their lives harder by doing my job for me.

Also, "Ugly Betty" had some medical (very minor, random, outpatient-y stuff) done last week...had to stay out all week to recover (air quotes) and now this week is MILKING her (air quotes) recovery for all its worth. CantStopCarrie had this same thing done last year...went in on friday came back to work monday, said there is no way in hell that after 10 days she would have any problems...call your mama honey cause we are full out of giving a fuck here at my desk.

....

Watching at work this week, the DVD set of Firefly....what a good show, how sad Fox Canceled it too soon.... I also have The Little Foxes and The Illusionist...if I get to that point....

Listening, Im in the (slow) process of recreating the bext mix tape I ever owned. I am still searching for about 4 songs left to complete the track listing, the problem is that those 4 are EXTREMELY hard to locate 2 of which I doubt are even on CD... They arent on Itunes and not on Limewire....one of them it turns out was on a album from the morning guys at K-rock about 8 yrs ago, If I want that one song its like 7 bucks to buy the cd used on Amazon.com, which is more than i want to pay for one 1:43 song....

Reading: I just finished "It Aint All ABout the Cooking" by Paula Deen ('MoTom gave it to me, I think so I would cook him some southern food) which was OK..Im not big on Autobiographies...I finished a quickie book by Janet Evanovich and I have The Children of Hurin left to start.

Watching: TV this week, not much....summer TV is shit

W.H. AUDEN

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

hola como estas? estoy, muy bien

random musings today:

Today Im slightly busy at work so no time for a cohesive statement on whats going on just some random stuff:

1. Is it ever OK to use your cellphone and carry on a conversation in the bathroom of your office buidling while you are taking a Nixon? No, I didnt think so. WTF!

2. Mary's version of "you may be a redneck if your idea of a fun saturday night is a 6 pack and a bug zapper:" Standing in my kitchen window during torrential downpours watching the idiots in their cars trying to drive through the HUGE DEEP standing water that always backs up at the corner when it rains a lot. Nothing says fun for me than seeing Minivans and low slung cars get stuck in water.

3. Ryan, you must rent Battle Royale. Loved it.

4. I am dissatisfied with summer TV. They dont show reruns anymore, just horrible reality shows and crap. Man I miss TV.

5. Heard about an old friend today, appears he is just the same as he used to be, comforting to know that nothing ever changes.

6. Two times in the past month two different people have commented that my house doenst have a theme to its decorating skematic. I guess I wasnt aware you were supposed to have a unifing theme in your house. I said to the 2nd person who mentioned this fact that my theme is "middle class despair, sprinkled with desperation, seasoned with "not a high priority of mine" and finished off with a red wine vinegrette of "and where will this money magically appear to redectorate my home with a theme?" I guess i view the house in this way:

-we dont plan on being in our house much more than 10 years

-we have 3 kids who are all under 4 years old. why get new carpet, repaint, new furnature etc...when the kids will (most likely) piss, shit, puke, draw on, track dirt over, place dirty cheerio + juice hand prints all over evrything which will necessitate replacing again. might as well wait till they pass this stage and then figure it all out.

-most of my furnishings are hand me downs. The couches upstairs, from my mom, the table upstairs, my mother in law, furnature downstairs, mother in law, computer room book shelves from my dad, my desk, old MPS desk my dad rescued (most certainly if the house was buring down and I had to save 1 item of furn my desk would be it) the bed dale bought new, but its crap, our bedroom furnature was MY furnature I got when I was 5, owens crib was rummaged, the girls dressers and all other dressers were rescued from my grandmothers house, i have my grandmothers dining room table and chairs and her china cabinet... So pretty much all our stuff is a hodgepodge of items and nothing matches. Do I care? well lets be reasonable, in a perfect world where i could spend money with impunity I would buy stuff that all matches and is nice and new and comfy, now in the real world where Im tossing out 25k a year to daycare, fuck new furnature, the old shit will have to do....

-as for decorating in a unified theme, i just dont have the time or the effort to paint everything matchy matchy and go all crate and barrel/IKEA on your ass.

-mostly I put stuff in the house that I love and that makes me happy. The things I love the most in the house are (as I said) my dad's old MPS desk circa at least 1930-1940. Its scratched, its old, its solid oak and it is LOVED. I love the wierd ass block painting circa1978ish that my dad bought at a NHS student art sale. Some high school kid painted it. Its brilliant.. I also love my wall table that Bryce bought us for our wedding present, its dark wood and just cute as hell and doesnt match anything else in the whole house.

7. we need a new bed. This one squeeks if you even roll over or if you sneeze. Im annoyed.

8. Children of Men really sucks as a film. I was beyond uninterested and pretty much stopped watching, went to Wikipedia and found out how it ended, said "oh that sucks." and went back to my LOTR audiobook.

FW:

Sheep passing my car

well we almost killed 2 outta ...

Weekend recap: So after almost drowning one kid (and the more I think about my aunt and uncle's f-ing neighbor's fence thing the more upset I get), having one kid walk away from the house down the street (which makes me more and more panic'd the more I think about it) and after Dale explaining his nightmare to me from Saturday night (in which all three of the kids and Dale were in some high rise building with metal girders and stuff and Owen and Malinda fell down a 10 foot drop and Malinda wasnt moving....) I have decided that having kids will kill you, if you manage not to kill your kids first by having them fall into pools and wander down the street. Yesterday we decided to tempt fate again by taking the kids with Grandma to the pool. Grandma bought those swimsuits that are all floating devices (waterwing type things inside the suit) and Malinda pretty much jumped in and took off...she was swimming all over the pool, and chatting with the neighbors and making friends...Mya didnt want to be alone and Owen wanted to be held....We put everyone in the suits after a time and even owen was swimming without us holding him (although he had the suit + wings and a noodle) which was pretty fun. I got a bit sunburned on my shoulders but it doesnt hurt.
Owen had a hard morning yesterday...he likes to demand breakfast when we wake up and when he gets breakfast he likes to throw a tantrum and cry for no reason over what he has. Yesterday he did his thing and Dale gave up and took him downstairs to cuddle while I stayed up with the girls. Well about 30 min later he pukes all over Dale's shirt and felt much better. Nothing like a kid puking on you to start your day. He then fell asleep about 2 hours later (10ish?) and slept for about 3 hours.
This week is actually pretty busy for me. Tonight I pick up Market Day and watch a bit of baseball @ West. I need to hit the gym tomorrow (usually I go today). I have a client recon for 2 days at work today and tomorrow. There are 4 baseball games this week and I think we may go to 2 of them. Friday night its open night at the zoo till 8pm so I think we are going to picnic out with the kids there.
Ryan seems to be lucking out in Montana with (at last count) 4 bear sightings and numerous other flora and fauna...I hope he gets home OK with no delays and sends me many pictures.

only ryan

In Montanta news, Congrats to my own personal John Muir, Conserv8 who saw a Grizzly Bear (and got some shots off), a Moose (and got some shots off) and a flock o' mountainy sheep (or goats I forget) and a Ptarmigan this morning on his hike. So go man go! This is great for him because (with exception of the bird) this comprised his list of things he wanted to see on his trip so it appears that all the rain and wind were worthwile! Pictures should be posted on his page when he returns from the land of the glaciers....

update, call from ryan about 3:30 to inform me he was THIS CLOSE to being mauled by a bear...holy christ! he actually had to use his bear spray! for the love of god ryan, dont get mauled by a bear....

also i dyed my hair today, we took family pictures at church:

el dying

I think it is possible that I am dying...

Its that one day out of my month where I am very sure I am slowly dying to death and nothing anyone could say or do or feed me (like the tempting offer of custard today) can make it all better. Usually I hope my one day of slow death can come on like a Sunday or Saturday but when it's hump day and a slow hump day at that, it can make was is usually an unbearable day become totally intolerable. What really sucks about my life is that my dear old lover, Advil and his little gay friend, Ibrprofin are totally verbotten for me for life (They mess with my blood chemistry too much) so I am left with either Vicodin or the useless counterpart of Tylenol for pain relief. I would shoot you in the head if that meant that I would be able to go home, get in bed, lay down and sleep for the next 12 hours.

Yesterday I finished the book I bought earlier that day. It was so good....I can not imagine how I will wait until next year for the next book in the series. Thankfully her next book (in a different series) comes out in October so at least I have that to look forward to. The nice part about my new book is I was able to finish it by 10pm so I don't think that 6 hours to read a 300+ page book was so bad...

So in other non dying related news, today I had to head over to the Target to grab something for Dale (which they didnt have). However they did have a bonanza of $1.00 items and 2 for $5.00 items that were unreal. I ended up buying about the next 6 months worth of birthday presents and christmas presents for about $20.00 & i got 3 pairs of cute socks for 2.50. You cant even get that shit at walmart that cheep. I did also notice that they now sell Kiehl's @ Target but they do not have the moisterizer that I use (sodium PCA oil free) which means I may have to cave and buy it online.

Tonight its dinner at Moe's as a fund-raiser for the club...mmmm Nacho's.

Usa today headline:

multi media day

movie reviews for the week:

COVER GIRL: STARRING RITA HAYWORTH AND GENE KELLY- its pretty much one of my top 5 favorites behind All about Eve....Gets better with every viewing...I love those old Hollywood musicals. They rock the house. I 1st saw this movie in 1995 in a small movie Theatre in Minneapolis called Uptown Movie Theatre. It shows ANY movie you could request on its one screen. I have seen Gone With The Wind there, All About Eve, Star Wars (epi 4) etc....

EPIC MOVIE: The parody film of Pirates of the Carribean, Harry Potter, Chronic (what!?)als of Narnia, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and DaVinci code. Much like the other parody films this one is pretty funny and the casting of Crispin Glover doing his best Johnny Depp doing Willy Wonka and whoever they found to do Capt' Jack "Swallows" was dead on....It was pretty funny, about what you would expect...I wouldnt have paid money to see it in the theatre, but I was all good with it from Netflix.

FARCE OF THE PENGUINS-STARING BOB SAGET AND PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER COMEDIAN YOU CAN THINK OF (+ Samuel L Jackson)-If you have ever seen March of The Penguins and then you see this you will laugh your ass off. Basically they take stock footage and I think footage from MOTP and do hilarious voice overs. I was having trouble NOT laughing out loud at work. Its def. a must rent...if you don't mind dirty dirty Bob Saget humor!

HALF-NELSON-Now this got really terrific reviews (and stars perennial hottie Ryan Gosling) and Oscar nods. Me? I really wasn't all that impressed, in fact I kinda had to force myself to finish the movie I was kind of bored. I can see why Ryan Gosling was nominated, I mean he was really good as a smack addict (i mean, not ever knowing one, I would believe he was addicted to crack...) but other than that, I wasnt all that impressed.

THE HOLIDAY-a meet-cute movie with Cameron Diaz (who will never be as hot as she was in The Mask) and Kate Winslet (and Jude Law)....who decide to switch houses (and countries) for 2 weeks over christmas to escape their shitty love lives and who find true love in 2 weeks blah blah. It got terrible reviews, I actually like the parts with Winslet and really hated the parts with Diaz (maybe i just dislike her)...I would say it wasnt as good as IN HER SHOES (which i totally liked) but it was a pretty good chick flick.

Book review for the week:

I am reading:

The Yiddish Policmen's Union by Michael Chabon-Its one of those books where there are a lot of words per page (its the only way i can describe it) and it reads slower than I normally read, I think it may be one of those books that takes me a month or so to finish. Its about a Jewish Detective in Sitka, Alaska. The author won the Pulitzer for his last novel so he ain't half bad as a writer.

The Harlequin-Laurell K Hamilton-Hooray I just bought this today!

Undead & ???-Hooray I just bought this too!

MUSIC:

I am listening to:

The unabridged version of "The Lord of the Rings." I am on book one....Bilbo just left the ring to Frodo and oh no...what shall he do!?

Amy Winehouse---Rehab...my god, best song ever! Did you hear her live on MTV Movie awards? Killed me, she just killed me.

Im also listening to alot of Elliott Smith (this is normal) and Green Day's charity video for Working Class Hero (proceeds towards Darfur charities...) which is actually not a bad cover....

I also have enjoyed playing the Chicago soundtrack at top volume and singing along...Rene Zelweiger is in my range so thats always fun....

TV WATCHING

Man the summer TV blows chunks. I hate reality TV shows, nobody shows re-runs anymore....I ended up watching House last night (rerun) and my DVD box set of Northern Exposure-Season 6. I guess I will read alot this summer!

Friday, June 01, 2007

i should just work from home as a envelope stuffer.

i am so angry right now i could pop

So after yesterdays "little miss i'm so filled with self importance i could pop" episode with my ipod

little miss i order the staples came over and tried to start something today with me...she pages me on my phone, i pick up, she tells me i have a call from a client so i hang up the phone, pick up my call and go on my merry way....this is what i do every time, this is what i did the 3 times this morning when the back up girl sarah tells me i have a call....

about 2 min after i hang up, im sitting at my desk, working on a project and she comes over behind me...

"why did you hang up on me?"

me: "to pick up my call?"

"well (bunch of mummbledogook about how she hears beeps etc...if i do whatever) and i heard (whatever she hears...)"

me: "listen if you have a problem why don't you go take it up with Kurt?"

her "im not going to I dont appreciate that you hang up on me by slamming the phone down like this?" (grabs my phone and slams down the receiver)

me: "please don't touch my phone."

her (and here is the hilarious set up for her comment which is coming up) "oooohh" and sort of touches my phone all over like she is giving it cooties or licking the last cookie in the box so i can't eat it.

as she walks away she loudly says "you need to grow up Mary, you are just mad because I caught you doing something you shouldnt have been doing yesterday, JUST GROW UP!"

then (kurt informs me later) as she walked away she said "why would i tell her fucking supervisor anything he doesnt do a goddamn thing anyways..."

Now of course by this point im so angry my hands are shaking.

but are you kidding me? you yell at me to grow up right after I

1: didnt give in to your delusions

2: didnt fight back with you and tried to deflect the situation

3: you cootied my phone like a 2 year old

4: stomped off in a huff like my 2 year old

I email Kurt:

If Laura ever comes over to me again and speaks to me in that tone of voice or touches anything on my desk in that manner I will NOT be able to keep my temper in check.

I DO NOT deserve to have anyone in this office speak to me in this way.

we have a few closed door chats (whereby he tells me I am 100% right etc...) and he goes down to chat with Scott Israel and blah blah...

the final closed door chat was that he wants me to, if this happens again, to remember the golden rule and don't let my anger get the best of me and not say anything....which caused me to blow up and say "but i didnt fucking do anything? i asked her to take it up with you!! and I treated her just like i wanted to be treated when she called?!?!?!?!"

kurts trying to calm me down and i say "so whats going to happen now?"

kurt says that they (sr partners) realize that by putting their heads in the sand nothing is being resolved, and trying to resolve things one on one hasnt helped so they are going to try to resolve it on a group level...and then if that doesnt work get more agressive on a individual level..

i start screaming about teflon...i said laura has worked here for 10 fucking years and treats everyone like garbage...how is "resolving things on a group level" going to do anything?

so i just have to sit tight and let the process work itself out...

this is so much bullshit...basically I have to sit here and be kicked like a dog, so other people can treat me like shit, so they can get away with treating me like shit, so upper management knows I am being treated like shit, so we can try to "work things out later."

this is so not helpful.

i miss the days when my receptionist was shannon and she was nice and normal and sane...

irritated!

so today I am sitting at work, minding my own business working my ass off on a project, and "watching" (which means im listening to the music since its a musical) covergirl on my ipod...our fat ass, ugly ass, dumb ass, snotty ass, i-am-so-importante-because-i-order-the-staples receptionist brings her stinky ass self over into my personal space, sticks her slimy ass head over my shoulder, looks at my ipod makes some dismissive snort and walks away....i'm all like "what the fuck?"

about 5-10 min later I walk over to my boss to ask him something about the project I am working on and he answers my question and he says look at this:
its an email from fatassbitches boss to kurt, the senior partners of the firm and the executive director of the firm saying "mary is watching her ipod at her desk and unless she is on break that is a very bad example to be setting for other employees."

well my boss & I go ballistic (he does ask me do i watch my ipod...the answer is yes i listen to it/watch it while im working its called multifuckingtasking) and he fires back to all involved (bCC me)
"maybe if your employees would spend a little more time working on all the diary codes and things that are so far behind and a little less worrying about mary who is always at her desk and always gets her work done, things would be much better around here."

bah
and then he tells me "you may want to lay off the video part for a few days.."

ok whatever

i hate the receptionist, she is now officially a bus person (meaning if a bus hit her head on and she died i would say "wow, i hope the bus is ok.")

el purple nerple

I really hate the small of lilacs. We had a big lilac bush at the house where i grew up, my parents have this wierd chineese lilac bush at their place,I can't stand the smell of that either..and the girls have a huge one outside their window. To me, lilacs always smell like they are one step away from rotting if they arent already. Lilacs just smell like death. My mom had a vase of them in her kitchen over the weekend and I couldnt stand to be in the same room with them.. I have no idea where this aversion comes from, I never had a particularly bad experience with them or anything I just can not stand them....at certain times during the spring I can't open the bedroom window because I dont want the house to smell like lilacs...no idea why i decided to tell you about my lilac aversion...it may be that i remembered having a flower discussion with a teacher 15 years ago...i think it came up that wouldnt it be nice if someone just sent you a dozen roses for no reason and that i hate red roses and much prefer white ones......she said that she always wanted some secret admirer to send her a dozen white tulips as those were her favorite flower...I think i dreamt about that last night and had one of those afternoon specials endings where i secretly sent her a dozen white tulips and she was all happy that someone cared....wait, i think that was a simpson's episode.....

today I watched Good Will Hunting for the 1st time..I didnt realize that so many Elliott Smith songs that I really like make up the soundtrack....It actually is a great film...I guess I never had much interest before...Also queued up to watch this week at work: Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremecy, Cover Girl, Ella Enchanted, Devil Wears Prada, farce of the Penguins, Finding Neverland, Half Nelson & Twin peaks season 2

i heard something so incredibly insensitive today i almost stopped and looked at the person saying it in disbelief...i took the girls to the dr (malinda ear infection + rash) and as we walked in there was this OLD (like 80s...90s?) lady sitting in her wheelchair and a nurse was standing next to her and talking, all i heard her say was "well it hurts in my side....you know like when you are running and your side hurts?" she paused like waiting for her patient to agree with her...i couldnt believe it...HELLO! LADY IN THE WHEELCHAIR, HALF DEAD, CANT WALK? unreal....i wonder if this is what they tach you in med school...will have to email andrea and ask....my god. nice heh?

p3

So we went to Pirates this afternoon, had to wait in line to get a seat (a feat which has not been seen since LOTR a few years back. It was well worth the 7.00, but not worth the totally geeky family next to us in line..dad: overweight and loud telling same lame joke about how if he had his "sword" he could clear the line and he would rather have that sword because his gun only has one shot heh heh....mom: overweight weraing pirates of the carribean shorts (which I think she made herself) and which were riding up her thighs (which was no treat as they may mirror my own, i dunnno) and son. oh the poor abused son. maybe 10-11? glasses who brought not one, not two but 10 plastic POTC action figures and kept telling who ever would look that "this is the special advanced preview elizabeth swann in her singapore outfit" and role playing the movie with the figures on the floor. He also had his POTC pocketwatch (which looks like Captn Jack's compass) and kept informing us every 3-4 minutes that it was "15 minutes till yo ho ho time." as we walked in the family was going to sit right next to us and i informed dale i just would not be able to handle 3 and a half hours of the family LARP. We moved back one row...the geekdad then went in and out of the theatre past the huge row of people saying "watch out, incredibly thin guy coming through" (i shit you not I could not make this up) and then once again going through the sword/gun bit...OWmom then said to kid "don't worry honey, everyone knows thats your daddy!" Dale asked me how much that kid gets the crap kicked out of him at school daily...my guess was at least 5 but no less than 3.

on the one hand, its great that they prove that there is someone out there for everyone and that everyone can breed and create more kids who will grow up to be megageeks (or as they call um on SNL "geeky spaz"), and on the other hand, I hope that I never ever pass on my dorky geek gene to the kids or if I do (since its probable as Mya is obsessed with spiderman) they learn to keep their inner geek hidden until you are in your parents basement roleplaying....

the movie itself was good, i enjoyed it, i think the sequel (if they make it) would be great and i think they need to have more naked chest orlando bloom.

mildly irratated with a side of coleslaw

so today cancer girl sick again, its sad when your boss is echoing your inward thoughts outwardly about that absence. Whatever, I can't keep beating that dead horse.

Today watched The 40 Year Old Virgin, a movie that gets better and funnier with each viewing, also rewatched Chicago and had to restrain myself from singing along...I made due with dance steps under my desk since I have my 1920s type heels on and my lavalier. Funny cowinkydink.

I converted Music & Lyrics, The Illusionist, and Farce of the Penguins last night. I also need to find out where Dale hid the last epi of DLM...as I do not have it for some reason....

Tonight we are taking the kids to the Zoo to pet the stingrays and leopard sharks and see the Koala's...The Koala's are quite possibly the most boring animals at the zoo. They eat their leaves and sleep. Wow. I'd rather watch the Chineese Alligators which just sit in the same part of their pool and do not move. I shouldnt complain so much, its a beautiful day outside and walking around with the kids will be wonderul and we are having salads for dinner outside in the fresh air....

Thankfully I have a 4 day weekend, we have no clue what we plan on doing, maybe going into Madison and walking around State Street or at the Union with the kids.....It really depends on how nice the weather is....it's been so long since we had a nice summer afternoon in Madison...

Next Sunday my mom has our free tickets to Noah's Ark so we are taking everyone for a day at the waterpark, lets hope it doesnt rain!

Hope you feel better soon ryan...

THE JOY OF DISCONNECTION

he fun of disconnection

today at work i found myself with nothing remotly important to do and so i had to somehow come up with something to fill up 8 hours of work. I found a project which allowed me to use a thumbnail amount of my brain on said project and use up the other parts of my brain on more worthwhile adventures. Mostly this was me listening to an audiobook, watching 4 hours of Dead Like Me (2 hours of which made me cry at my desk, but no one pays any attention to me at work so no big deal) and making mental lists of "crap you need to do." CRAP I NEED TO DO:

1. clean house for visit from Ryan, this includes, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, floors, removing garbages from rooms, vacuuming, finding sleeping bag for Ryan and generally getting rid of toddler smells and spills.

2: put all books that have been read into book log and then find space on shelf to put books away. This may mean buying yet another bookshelf and having to somehow hide the fact that i have bought more books from my mate.

3. mow lawn...which shortly after was placed on list was removed from list as husband informed me he will be mowing lawn for exercise. Bummer as mowing lawn is a good 2 hours of non thought music listening to time that I really like...last time dale mowed lawn he weed wacked my Chive plant. I now have no fresh chives. This is unacceptable.

4. convince husband to hang up large mountain of clothes on chair. This will be the 500th time I have asked for pile to move itself from chair into closet and the 500th time husband has hoped the magical housecleaning fey will come out from their hills and clean the house. This has never yet happened, as everyone knows, the fey do not do housework.

5. clean garage. i do not want to clean the garage, i am simply putting on list to show my willingness to accept that i have a dirty garage and the hope that the magical garage cleaning fey will do it for me. the fey also do not clean nor do they have garages so this is a wishful thinking todo.

6. repaint nails, they are chipped and not pretty. its a small thing, but it would make me inwardly happy.

mothers day

mothers day

I dont really understand the point of Mothers Day or Fathers Day. Someone asked me today if I had a nice mothers day...honestly it was the same as any other Sunday. I didnt get any special treatment, Dale did spend 13.00 on roses...which was nice and everything but I would have been the same regardless of if I had received them or not...(mostly it was an annoyance since the kids threw a hissy fit wanting to "help" me put them in the water.....) I sent cards to my in laws and my mom, my mom brought over make up for me (nice, but not necessary)...it seems pretty silly to have a day to recognize your parents...I try to treat my parents nice every day...and I am sure (or I hope) that they know I appreciate them daily for all the help they give me...I dunno...maybe as I get older I find that those Hallmark Holidays are a drag vs something nice...like sweetest day? what the fuck is sweetest day? why does dale need to get me something in October for sweetest day? I dont think I have ever wanted something for that holiday...is that a less threatening valentines day for unmarried couples? what? I guess I can understand adminstrative professionals (secretary) day because god knows if you dont take your underpaid, bitchy, lord-it-over-the-whole-office-that-you-order-the-postits phone answerer girl out to applebeas that day you will get even worse attitude the rest of the year......but Bosses day? Fuck my boss, I have to appreciate my boss? When is "kiss you employees ass" day? mid november?

maybe this all comes from a growing discontentment I have with my job...I think that it can be established as a given that no matter what you do at your job or who you are, from the lowly mailroom peon to the CFO, you spend some part of your work day fucking around on the job. Fucking around being doing something not work related on company time. What really pisses me off are the blatent fuck around-ers. I think you can fuck around at work and no one notices, like if you are spending 10 min an hour reading the news on CNN.com or if you bought something online at Amazon.com or you called your mom and talked to her on company time...Chances are no one would notice that cause you are at your desk. The fuck-around-ers that piss me off are the people who are so obvious about their fucking aroundage. Like my coworker we shall call the kangaroo. so called because she is incapable of sitting at her desk and working for more than 10 minutes before she jumps up to fuck around...she bops in whenever she wants, sits, turns on computer, hops up, gets coffee and does her 1st rounds around the office for a 30-45 min period to check in with her peeps..sits down, works 10 minutes, hops up, talks to receptionist for 30min...sits back down, works for 10 min, hops up, takes an hour or hour and half (paid) lunch, comes back...sits down, gets afternoon coffee (30-40 min process) works 10 min, hops up, does her afternoon walks-around and works another 10 min and then leaves early for the day. It is impossible NOT to notice that she has accomplished NOTHING all day since she is never at her fucking desk.

Me? I get into work, run a report and surf the net while its running...i call my mom while im workingi email back and forth with people outside of work about non work related things, i make doctors appts...but all the while Im doing whatever it is I should be doing...Do i feel like I am the pot calling the kettle black? No, because I can say i sat at my desk and did something 8 and a half hours today, regardless of me fucking around for maybe 30 min (i didnt take my paid 30 min lunch today or any day mind you) during my day....at least if someone had to compare what I accomplished vs the kangaroo it would be obvious who is working.

whatever...i guess it boggles my mind daily how some people are just teflon around here
